Rijkswaterstaat has constructed a new section of the A16 motorway between the A13 near Rotterdam The Hague Airport and the A16/A20 at the Terbregseplein interchange. The route includes the Rottemeren Tunnel, located between the Lage Bergse Bos and the River Rotte. The area above the tunnel has been landscaped with greenery and water features.The tunnel forms part of the 11-kilometre A16 Rotterdam, the world’s first energy-neutral motorway with a tunnel. The new connection improves traffic flow on the A13, A16/A20 and surrounding local roads, contributing to better accessibility and quality of life throughout the region.
CI-Engineers was responsible for modelling the tunnel in Revit 3D.
